MikeP Feb 16 MusicHype / FAQs

The way MusicHype works is that the very first time you log in to our site we will make a new Musichype account for you with the details of the service that you signed in with. For example, if you join with your Twitter account, then your MusicHype username will be the same as your Twitter name and you can sign in with your Twitter details from at any time from now on. To add more services to your account, while signed in, go to the settings page (http://musichype.com/settings) and add your other services here.

If you are not signed in and try to sign in with services you haven't used on MusicHype before, we will assume you are someone new and create a new account with those details.

To undo duplicate accounts, simply log in with those details and remove the service that you want to add to the other account on the settings page (http://musichype.com/settings). You can then sign out and log in with your original account and because the other service is no longer attached to an account, you should be able to add it here. Once you have added multiple services to the same account, you can log in to MusicHype using any of these services login details.

If you've tried the above, and are still having trouble, just let us know and we'll be happy to fix it for you.

MusicHype covers both established and up and coming music on a daily basis, Music News, New albums, reviews, videos, remixes, tours, live gigs, etc. We also cover other music goings on other blogs and publications.

Currently, we offer promotional tools such as a weekly Track of the Week page that rewards users for sharing a free download, Follow For Music which rewards users for following artists on Facebook and Twitter and exclusive Listening Party streams which gives fans a chance to hear a new album a bit earlier than expected.

The advantage we have over other music sites is that we can put music content and fan activity in one place. We add artists to our system every day so we can re-present online music culture and fan engagement.

If you want MusicHype to cover any particular music news or content you can send press-releases, music, etc to:

PO Box 11073, Mns St Central, Wellington 6142, NZ or e-mail our web editor Adam Burns (adam@musichype.com)

A small number of people may have experienced problems with their Facebook on MusicHype. Facebook changed it's API setup recently so we've had to change the way we track the data that we get back from them. If you've been a MusicHype member for a while, it could just be that your Facebook settings need to be refreshed. Try logging in, then going to the settings page and removing then re-adding your Facebook details. Don't worry, you won't lose any of your existing Facebook tracks.

You can remove services from MusicHype at any time by signing in and going to http://musichype.com/settings. By unticking any of the added services here you are removing their details completely from our database and we will stop tracking them.

If for some reason you can't get into your MusicHype account, you can always revoke the MusicHype applications privileges on your individual services. For example on Twitter, you can remove MusicHype by going to the Edit profile section and then the applications tab.

Because we're tracking third party services like Facebook and Twitter, and they're subject to delays of their own, it can sometimes take as long as 24 hours for your data to show up. So please be patient, we'll get there soon :-)

Also remember your Track Record is just a snapshot of your recent activities. If you click any of the "view all" buttons above your activities, you'll be taken to a page that not only shows everything you've done, it will also allow you to filter by keyword and category. So if you think we've missed something, try looking here first.

if it's been over 24 hours and we still haven't tracked your activity then something could indeed be wrong, so let us know at support@musichype.com
